Mary,

I went to a Showbiz Pizza when I was 5 or 6 (which merged into Chuck e Cheese) and hadn't been back until this year). Children ran wild, I couldn't hear the person next to me and there were some bad 80's remakes playing over all of it.

And the kids loved it. The adults, not so much. For what the people paid to eat there, though, and for tokens, I could have taken AJ to Macaroni Grill for his favorite Mac n cheese and to Build a Bear for a custom bear instead of cardboard pizza and junk toys.

For them, though, it's about the experience. For adults, not so much.

As a gladly childless woman I perhaps should not have too much of an opinion on this but it seems to me those big CLOWN PONY SPONE BOB 5 TIER CAKE parties are for the adults benefit. I've seen little kids cry like the, well, like the little kids they are, at big "scary" characters or towering cakes.

Chuck e Cheese scared me the first time I went in there & I was in my 30s.

Mary D’s last blog post..Besogne or why medical receptionists are plotting my death
