@Neil I see why it would be easy to test, but I am not a fan of this kind of research. Genes are tricky things and it feels like a little tweaking could turn into something dangerous. Chances are, we won’t see the end result if things go wrong with these animals. Only if something goes right.

@Elizabeth Do you mean by selling Glowstick Puppies? Like the new designer dog?

@Deanna Huh? Do you mean what is wrong with us or what is wrong with the researchers? Because I don’t see anyone actually supporting what’s happening. I asked for someone to help explain why they might be doing it and people are trying. It doesn’t mean they actually agree. I appreciate your passion, though.

Doesn’t matter if we’re genetically close when we’re working on the technology and the tools needed.

This isn’t a study of the dog’s genome. This is a study of gene splicing tech.

Besides, most governments would prohibit, and most sane pepole wouldn’t want to volunteer for, actual human testing right off the bat.

That’s not to say I think it’s necessarily a good thing to monkey around with. But I think starting with a dog like this makes sense for this kind of research, since previous work has been done on smaller, less complicated organisms.

I don’t see anything good coming from this. We aren’t even close, genetically speaking, to many of the animals they are testing this on.

Whether the result glows is easy to test and probably genetically simple as well.

Consider it practice for more complicated genetic tomfoolery. A trial run in the shallow end.
