I'm so sorry--I remember when I was a kid in Iowa and we had a super humid summer that led to a flea outbreak that made the evening news. They were biting the dogs, the cats, the hamsters...and the people! We had to flea bomb the house. Yuck! Re: treatment--you can get an oil from your vet that you squirt on the dog's fur between the shoulder blades. The oil kills the fleas he has and repels new ones for a good long time. Ugh!
