Kindle decreases price

I don’t know if any of you know this already or care, but since I’m a reader, my heart did a little flip when I saw that Amazon has reduced the price on it’s Kindle. We’ve already discussed that I’m a bit of a cheapskate. Ok, I’m a tightwad. I won’t pay for it. At $349, I could indulge one of my other designer interests. But I wouldn’t. I’d wait and see if someone else did for my birthday or Christmas, because I’m really that cheap.

So, when I got an email that loudly proclaimed, “AMAZON DECREASES PRICE ON KINDLE” my heart fluttered. It’s now down to $299, so, for those of you that were waiting for it to go under $300, you can now indulge! I still won’t, because…don’t make me say it again. It hurts. Until Amazon decides that I’m worth giving freebies or the sky suddenly rains sugar daddies that want nothing in return, the Kindle isn’t going to be mine. But if you are still interested, I’ll make it easy. Indulge all you want. Then rub it in my face.

Oh! My blog is available on kindle, too. For the bargain price of $0.99. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As much as it would be great to have a Kindle, I’m with you. I’m too much of a cheapskate to fork over that much money! Especially when I can use that $300 to buy approximately THIRTY actual paper books that I can then loan to others when I’m done with them. (Probably more since I buy a lot of paperbacks & they are only $7.) Glad they dropped the price, but it’s gotta be a lot lower before I dive into it! :)

I hear ya, E. I’m wondering if you might like a couple of sites I frequent. Have you heard of http://www.paperbackswap.com and http://www.bookmooch.com ? They both require mailing, but I’ve had a lot of success moving books that I don’t read anymore, as well as AJ’s books and getting books that I’ve been dying to read but don’t want to buy. This has worked really well since I got into school and haven’t had time to go to the library during their available hours.

I totally agree with you. $300 isn’t much better than $350. Maybe once they’re under $100 I might buy one, but until then I’ll stick with paper.

I struggle with the desire to have one because they are so small. I read every night before bed, sometimes for hours. It’s a habit that I’ve had since I began reading and some of the books I read are at around 500 pages. It kills my wrists and I’m starting to feel the effects of it. That alone has me thinking that I might want one, at some point.

But until a doctor tells me I NEED one, I probably won’t buy one. ^-^
